Welcome to the Resident Evil 2 Remake trophies guide! The wait is finally over. After receiving the remake of the first Resident Evil game in 2002 and anticipation of a remake of the beloved sequel to the series, our prayers have finally been answered. As with the first remake, this game is not simply a remaster, but a reimagining of the original.
Like the original PS1 game, this remake offers a stage for Leon and Claire, as well as a second stage for each of them after beating the game. To unlock Leon B you will need to finish Claire A and to unlock Claire B you will need to finish Leon A. To see the actual ending you will need to play scenario B of any of the characters. While the first remake opted to keep the camera angles fixed, REmake 2 chose the third-person over-the-shoulder perspective familiar from Resident Evil 4. Another new feature in REmake 2 is self-defense items, which made their debut. the first remake. While grappled by the enemy, you can use them to avoid damage and have a chance to damage an enemy.
To unlock platinum, you can expect 6+ full game playthroughs. Since each of the 4 campaigns (Leon A, Leon B, Claire A, Claire B) has different collectibles, you have to play through them all. You can try to get S-Ranks in the 2nd-4th game. So you need 2 more matches on Hardcore. Add another game to clear remaining trophies on the easiest difficulty in case some of the trophies are still needed.
Start with Leon's campaign on assisted difficulty and collect all collectibles as you play. follow theResident Evil 2 Remake Collectible Locations Guide, this complete guide has everything in chronological order. The reason supported difficulty is recommended is that there is a big enemy, the "Tyrant", that constantly haunts you mid-game. On Normal he walks much faster. In Assisted it walks pretty slowly, giving you time to look for collectibles and just get familiar with the game.
If you don't mind spoilers, you can try to get the trophies based on the boss fight. WhileUnderstood!can be achieved with Leon and Claire,in a blink of an eyecan only be achieved with Leon andwith time to spareonly with Clara.
After finishing Leon's A scenario, go to the main menu and select "New Game" to play Claire's A scenario and get its collectibles. After his game, you can go to the title menu again and choose "New Game [2nd Run]" to play Leon's Scenario B. Finally, do Claire's Scenario B. Scenarios B have different puzzle solutions, so check out theResident Evil 2 Remake Puzzle Solving Guideif you get stuck at any time. Ideally, try to combine this with Step 2 of the Roadmap and aim for S-Ranks on Normal difficulty during Scenario B matches.
Finding all collectibles (Mr. Raccoons in particular) gives you a knife that never breaks, which can be very useful in later games and on Hardcore difficulty. That's why you need to get the collectibles first to make things easier later on.
Step 2 – Get S Rank (Default Difficulty) – Unlock the Infinite Ammo Weapon
To achieve an S rank, the only thing you will have to watch is the completion time. To get an S rank, you'll have to finish the game in the following time on Standard difficulty:
Please note that S rank trophies will not unlock on easy (assisted difficulty). Must be on Standard difficulty or higher. When you pause the game, the timer stops. If you know the game, these time requirements shouldn't be an issue. You'll unlock an infinite ammo Samurai Edge Pistol upon reaching your first S Rank, which you can use in your second character race, as well as the tougher races! This is why you should definitely do S-Ranks before trying Hardcore, because you get a free infinite ammo weapon to use in Hardcore. It makes things a lot easier for you.
Once you know the game well and unlock the infinite ammo pistol to get the S-Rank on normal, it will be time to tackle the extreme difficulty. You will have to finish the game on this difficulty with both characters. To checkHardcore Rookie / Hardcore College Studentfor some life-saving tips on how to deal with this madness.
You must complete the 4th Survivor bonus game mode once. See "Grim Reaper" for a walkthrough.

Fire the grenade you fed at an enemy.

By fighting your enemy withand having a grenade/flashgrenade equipped, you will feed an enemy with it. The enemy will stagger around for a while with the grenade in their mouth. Just shoot. If you didn't get it in natural play on your first playthrough, you can do it quickly at the beginning of Leon/Claire's Scenario B (second run). In the first room you enter there is a grenade, just a few seconds after starting the scenario B story.

Kill 3 enemies at once with a secondary weapon.

Throw a frag grenade at a group of 3 or more zombies. This will instantly kill them and unlock the trophy. If you didn't get it from natural play in your first game, you can get it quickly at the beginning of Leon/Claire's Scenario B (Round 2). In the first room you enter there is a grenade, just a few seconds after starting the scenario B story.

Shoot a zombie dog or a licker in the air.

This is much easier to do with Zombie Dogs than it is with Lickers. In Leon's campaign, you encounter dogs in the parking lot after turning the power on. In Claire's campaign, you find them on the way to the orphanage after exiting the parking lot. When you see a zombie dog, keep your weapon pointed in its direction (preferably a shotgun or submachine gun) and wait for it to jump at you. There are high chances that you will get it without trying.

Paralyze a licker's hearing.

Just throw a flash grenade at a licker. For example, you'll find a Licker in the hallway leading to S.T.A.R.S. Office on the second floor of the police station (and a flash grenade is inside the S.T.A.R.S. office, so it's a perfect opportunity to get this early on). Lickers are crawling enemies that attack with sharp claws and lash out with their long tongues.

Throw the Tyrant's hat at its head.

After putting out the fire on the roof of the police station (in the middle of the story with Leon or Claire), you will find the tyrant. "Tyrant" (also known as Mr. X) will start chasing you throughout the police station. Just take your hat off to the trophy. You can't kill him, just stagger, so don't waste your time and ammo.

Defeat Stage 2 G using the crane only once.

This is highly missable! Be sure to save your game after placing all the chess plugs in the sewer monitor room.
At the end of the sewer section, you'll find G a second time. First, you'll be attacked by him in a burning room. Stand next to the "high voltage box" between the metal shutter and the breaker box and you won't be able to hit it there.
When you reach a platform with a container, press the red button to send the container. Hit G with everything you've got. There's no clear health meter, so just shoot all your ammo at it. When you're about to run out of ammo, go upstairs and press the red button on the control panel to summon the container. It will hit G and throw you into the abyss. The trophy only unlocks if he is defeated when calling the Crane back for the first time. If it doesn't crash, it means you haven't damaged it enough; in that case, just exit the main menu and continue or reload the last manual save. Don't stand in the middle of the platform, as the container can also hit you. When in doubt, bringing G to his knees 5 times should be enough damage to knock him down on the first use of the crane.

Using the hints in the photo, find 2 hidden items.

First, you'll need to find the roll of film for this. You can find it on a table in the Workroom in the sewers. Use the handle on the T-bar to open the valve in the lower channel (lower sewer), which leads to the workshop elevator. Take the elevator and you'll find the film reel on a table over there. Continue through the Workers' Break Room and you can head back to the Police Station.
Go to the Dark Room to develop the film and you will receive 2 screenshots of where to find hidden items. These places are the Press Room (Police Station 1F) and the S.T.A.R.S Office (Police Station 2F).

Expand your inventory slots to the maximum.

Use only the EMF Visualizer to complete Ada's game segment.

This can only be done in Leon's campaign!
Perform a manual save after defeating the crocodile in the sewers with Leon. You will have to finish Ada's part without using her weapon to get this trophy. Instead, you'll have to hack a few consoles with your viewer. She will automatically equip it and you will be able to see the hackable devices through the yellow colored walls. You can cut them by holding.

Escape the room within 60 seconds during Sherry's segment.

*Very Disposable*
This can only be done in Claire's campaign!
Do a manual save before the electrical parts puzzle in Chief Iron's "Private Collection Room" (just after returning from Clocktower).
When Sherry's game sequence begins: turn right, grab the stuffed animal, check its back to find a block. Place the block in the corner of the room to start a puzzle. Now comes the hard part! The initial layout of puzzle blocks is random for each player. However, the appearance of the final arrangement will always be the same. Check out the image below how it should look in the end:
Now the good news! You can take your time to figure out how to solve your puzzle in the least number of moves. The objective is simply to replicate the positions of the blocks in the image above. Write down which starting block you moved where. This will likely take more than 60 seconds on the first try and therefore void the trophy, but there is a workaround: exit the main menu and click Continue. Now you respawn in Sherry's room and the timer is reset, but the puzzle solution remains the same! When you do the "trick" to continue, the puzzle is not random, so your previous solution will still work. Do this again as often and as often as possible until you memorize the solution that applies to you. The puzzle rewards you with scissors which you can use to cut a hole in the wall and escape, at which point the trophy should pop. If no trophies appear, it took longer than 60 seconds. Then just exit to the main menu again and continue, repeat until you can solve the puzzle fast enough and earn the trophy.

Defeat Stage 4G with more than 4 minutes to detonate.

This can only be done in Claire's story!
4G is the final boss in Claire's story. You will have 10 minutes to escape and kill the boss. Use your toughest weapons and this shouldn't be a problem. Claire gains a minigun for this fight which kills the boss quickly.

Defeat the Super Tyrant with more than 5 minutes left before detonation.

This can only be done in Leon's story!
Super Tyrant is the final boss in Leon's story. You will have 10 minutes to escape and kill the boss. Use your toughest weapons and this shouldn't be a problem. You'll get a rocket launcher to finish him off after you've done enough damage.

Destroy all Mr. Raccoons.

Open all safes and locks in the game.

Complete Leon's story on "Standard" or "Hardcore" with an S rank.

Complete Claire's story on "Standard" or "Hardcore" with an S rating.

To get S-Rank, you must complete the game within the following timeframes:
- Leon A / Claire A – 3:30 in Standard, 2:30 in Hardcore
- Leon B / Claire B – 3:00 in Standard, 2:00 in Hardcore
The only factor that determines your ranking is how long it took you to complete the story. Nothing else matters (deaths, number of saves are irrelevant to this). You can pause the game to stop the timer if you want to take a break or watch the video tutorial where to go next.
Warning: If you die, never choose "Continue" as it keeps counting your time and doesn't reset it to the last checkpoint. Always choose "Exit" and from the title menu select "Continue" or Load Save. This will roll back time to the last checkpoint. This can save a lot of time and makes everything tremendously easier!
If you followed the roadmap and got all the collectibles in Leon's Scenario A, you'll still have to play through the remaining 3 campaigns to get his collectibles. In fact, you can try to go for S-Ranks at the same time to reduce the number of games to platinum. 3 hours is very forgiving, I made it in 2 hours on my first attempt at scenario B while looking for collectibles. Doing this in Scenario A gives you even more time and is easier. Please note that you must be playing on Standard difficulty for this! Will not award the trophy on easy (assisted) difficulty! The video above is a full run by S-Rank, who also won the "A Small Carbon Footprint" trophy.

Complete Leon's story in the "Hardcore" game mode.

Complete Claire's story in the "Hardcore" game mode.

Extreme difficulty will be your toughest task on your way to platinum. On hard difficulty the enemies are much tougher, you will be in a state of danger after one hit and you will die after a second and you will need to find ink ribbons to save your progress.
Some tips on how to approach the difficulty:
- Obtain the Endless Samurai Edge for Standard Rank S difficulty and optionally the Endless Knife That Will Never Break by finding all Mr. Raccoons. Don't even bother trying Hardcore without the infinite Samurai Edge.
- Don't worry about killing too many enemies - shoot them in the head until they stagger and run past. Don't waste ammo and time.
- Use your ink ribbons wisely: I'm not saying don't use them often as you might find enough (about 25), but use them after a successful trip for the items you need. For example, save after returning to the lobby with the club key and try to open all the doors with the pliers and save again. Try breaking the game into segments. This will help you with my next point.
- Try to rate the game an S in hardcore: What? You're probably wondering, but let me finish. After finishing the game with an S rank on hardcore, you will unlock the endless machine gun! It will make your second intense run MUCH easier. Finish a segment and rewind it in your head, maybe you missed some time you could have avoided or got hit in a place you shouldn't have?
- Timer tricks you!: Upon dying, you will have 3 options: continue, load last save, exit. Choose Always Exit and then Reload Save from the title menu. If you choose one of the other options, the game will add the time between your last save and the time you died to the timer. It nearly killed my S rank for me, so be careful.
- G's last fight isn't too bad - feel free to spend your ammo on G in the lab. It takes a lot of hits and does a lot of damage. You won't need ammo for the last G fight with Yellowcart. It's totally possible to defeat Stage 4G with just the Minigun you'll find there and the Endless Time Gun. Use your Minigun only when you can see their eyeballs and shoot them and finish the rest of the battle with the weapon.

Complete the game without using a recovery item.

Beat the game without opening the item box.

Take 14,000 steps or less in one game.

You can check your steps at the bottom of the logs section while pausing the game. The record is called “A Small Carbon Footprint”, as is the title of the trophy. Speed up the game and only focus on the things you need. Bottom line: Avoid steps you don't need to take. The tutorial video above shows how to get the trophy.
The B scenarios are shorter, but it's also possible in the A scenario. It's best to combine this with the Frugalist trophy. Once you've unlocked the infinite ammo pistol (from the default S-rank difficulty), your best bet would be to run a B scenario with infinite ammo.

Complete the "Fourth Survivor" extra mode.

This one will test your patience, game skill and your luck. In 4thsurvivor, you play as Hunk and have to fight your way through the sewers to the main entrance to the police station, while obviously having to take the longer path every time since your normal faster path is somehow blocked.
You start with 4 weapons, some ammo and some healing items, as well as some defensive items and gunpowder. In the video above you'll see how I managed to finish it, but let me explain why I did some actions that might not be obvious at first:
- I used my gunpowder to make shotgun shells, as Shotty has the best distribution and you don't need to aim very accurately. It helps because you want to keep moving forward all the time, especially while being chased by Mr. X.
- I unequip my defensive items early to save them for later, the last part outside of RPD is basically pure madness. I died there once trying to pass the zombie festival because a zombie plant grabbed me and ended up in instant death. I saved my grenades just for that part.
- I used my mix of red and blue in an odd spot, but I did it for a reason. Red-Blue gives you a temporary boost to defense and immunity to poison. I used it for the area I knew I wouldn't bother with enemies since I need the ammo later, as well as to protect myself from those big enemies in the sewers. They will grab it, but you can just ignore it as you won't be poisoned.
- My run wasn't perfect, but it should help you gain more insight into how to approach this madness.
